What is a web application?

What does E-Commerce mean?
E-Commerce stands for electronic commerce. A website that is ready for e-commerce means that it accepts credit cards.
What is the difference between an Online Catalog and a Number Search?
Online catalog's let the web user search for items by category. This is what you see most of the time when you go shopping online. A Number Search is an item search where the web user enters one or more numbers, then the results of the search are displayed. Most businesses that sell parts use the number search as their primary sales tool for the web.
Can I manage my online inventory myself or do I have to call someone to do it for me?

If I choose the Business Plan or E-Commerce Plan, do I own the code for the web applications?
No. Slickhead provides web applications as a web hosting service, regardless of the level of customization of the web application.
What is RAID?
RAID stands for Redundant Arrays of Inexpensive Disks and is a technology that uses multiple hard drives. We use RAID 5 for maximum performance and reliability.
What type of security system do you have?

How often do you backup web files and databases?
We backup all files several times per day to multiple fixed and removable drives on multiple platforms. Files are periodically archived in our bank safety deposit box to protect against the unthinkable.
What is your hosting platform?
Windows Server and SQL Server. We support ASP (Active Server Pages).
What is SSL?
SSL stands for Secure Socket Layer. In a nutshell, SSL is an encryption standard used in the web industry to protect sensitive information entered in web pages. Most companies use SSL to secure web pages for credit card transactions. SSL encodes the entire web page so internet hackers can't steal credit card data.
What is hand-written code?
Hand-written code means that the code was written using a simple text editor and not a web page development program. This is the high end of web development. All our HTML, JavaScript, SQL and VBScript has been written by hand ensuring cross-platform / cross-browser compatibility, uniqueness and a bug-free website. We create custom web applications, not out-of-the-box web functions that most web developer's use.
Do you create your own artwork for the website's you develop?
We can create a unique layout with custom graphics, reconstruct an older website and recycle existing graphics or use professional web templates. Unless you insist on 100% unique artwork, we have found the best method is to use web templates for top notch graphics and layout. This in combination with our hand-written code provides the ultimate website.
Why does my webmail interface say Nettica instead of Slickhead?

What is DNS?

What is your billing period?
The billing period for web hosting services is six months paid in full at the start of the billing period. We send out electronic invoices on January 1 and July 1.
How long have you been in business?
The company was founded in 1999 as a fertilizer research and development center with web development as a side business. The company name was changed to Slickhead Studios, Inc. in 2001 and the company began offering web hosting and development as its primary services.
